Where to stay:
3Forty is a wonderful location to stay if you are considering a trip to Lexington! “3Forty is situated in the heart of scenic Lexington, where southern charm and downtown vibrance collide with bourbon, horses and gracious hospitality. We invite you to live like a local, experiencing the best of the Bluegrass right outside your front door: art, food, culture, shopping, sports, horse racing and spirits await” – 3Forty website. 3Forty had everything that we needed and we are already looking forward to our next stay!
Where to eat:
Corto Y Lima is one of my top restaurant recommendations for Lexington! Make sure you order the tamales and a mojito. Don’t get me wrong, the margaritas are delicious but the mojito is life changing!! They literally infuse mint into the simple syrup and it is a game changer. I also highly recommend trying out the queso and the guacamole- you can thank me later!

Jeff Rubys
If you are looking for some of the most delicious food that you will ever put in your mouth then Jeff Ruby’s is for you! If I could only eat one thing for the rest of my life then their tuna tartare might just be what I choose. The steak was divine and make sure you try their baked macaroni and cheese (they are famous for it).

Fun Fact: The curtains and other mementos in the “Gatsby Room” at Jeff Ruby’s are actually from The Great Gatsby movie set!!
Distilleries to Visit:
Castle and Key
This was such a fun distillery to visit and it was incredibly family friendly. The grounds are beautiful and they even have a walking trail which was great fun for Gabe. We did the flight of their featured drinks which I highly recommend. We left with lots of Castle and Key swag from the gift shop and several bottles of their rye whiskey (my favorite type of whiskey/bourbon) and some of their vodka as well.
Woodford Reserve
Woodford was such a stunning distillery! I was joking with Jonathan that the sky somehow seems to look more blue in Kentucky and it was certainly showing out when we were at Woodford. They feature lush lawns with perfectly placed rocking chairs to enjoy your drinks. We both agreed that the “front porch” was our favorite drink out of the 2 that we tried (they limit you to 2 drinks per person). We also recommend the charcuterie box as a snack while you are there!

We did visit Buffalo Trace as well and I honestly wouldn’t recommend it unless you are just a huge fan. Their distillery was very commercialized and in comparison to Castle and Key and Woodford it was less than impressive.
We also payed a visit to Keenland while we were there and it was such a beautiful track. Jonathan went to the race for his bachelor trip and I already told him that we will be coming back so that I can see it for myself!
I hope you enjoyed this post on Lexington, KY and hopefully this will inspire you to pay a visit. We are already planning our next trip back during Keenland race weekend!
I would love to hear from you! If you have any questions or comments please leave them below 🙂
