A few weeks ago, Jonathan and I snuck away for a long weekend to Newport, RI for our first child-free trip. We both agreed that this is the perfect location for a long weekend so I wanted to write a quick post with the details of our trip.
Arrival:
We flew into Providence, RI and rented a car at the airport to drive the roughly 30 minutes to Newport. The scenery was beautiful and of course we had to stop at Pattis Pierogis on the way. Pattis has been featured on the Food Network and is dubbed a “pierogi paradise” by Guy Fieri.
Hotel:
We stayed at The Chanler at Cliff Walk and I cannot recommend the hotel enough! Walking distance to downtown and located right on the Cliff Walk which has gorgeous views of the water and some of the most beautiful homes that I have ever seen.
Room:
We booked the Nantucket Suite which came with a private entrance, hot tub, sauna, and a perfect view of the ocean.
Hotel Dining:
We dined at Cara, the hotel restaurant, our first night in Newport and it was 5 courses of perfection!
Cliff Walk:
Make sure that you take the time to stroll along the Cliff Walk. The scenery is breathtaking and you can catch some of the locals surfing no matter what time of year (or how cold the water might be).
“Winding its way along the eastern shore of Aquidneck Island, the Cliff Walk is world famous as a public access walk that combines the natural beauty of Newport’s shoreline with the architectural history of the city’s Gilded Age. Wildflowers, birds, and geology all add to this delightful walk.” -City of Newport
Mansion Tours:
Do yourselves a favor and tour some of the incredible mansions in Newport. We toured The Breakers and The Elms while we were there which was so much fun. They were starting to decorate for Christmas so you know I was in heaven with that many Christmas trees.

Food and Shopping:
We thoroughly enjoyed the food and strolling through Bowens Wharf. Below are some places that you definitely want to check out while in Newport.
